That you are willing to learn new career aspects and that you have found being made redundant very difficult to settle into , because you have a strong work ethic, although you realise that sadly it is a fact of life sometimes these days.

You want the job because you see it as a chance to join a strong company with a great reputation as a retailer and as an employer, you're looking for a role within their company that will give you the opportunity to show you can be loyal, felxible and reliable. You have shopped in the store and have always been impressed with the high standards of customer service and the competitive pricing and you know that they have a strong presence on the high street.
Good luck bernie - don't go in thinking "it's only a part time job" - you have got a lot further than many other people with no interviews at all.! You could say that you hope that the part time hours they are offering at the moment might lead to something more if they find you reliable and trustworthy, and that you are interested in working in retail (if you are). If you know the sort of shoppers you get in the store (eg younger, older, mixed) if you can show that a bit of the understanding of their likely needs, that might help. Good luck - let us know how you get on.
