internet speeds

i am connected to virgin broadband and use yahoo as my mail but it is getting so slow lately that some times it wont even load has anyone any ideas pleeeez

Are all websites loading slowly? vm seems to be ok for me. I am in the South East. Having you been downloading any big files recently? vm do throttle the connection back for a while if you download during peak times.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago, call Virgin on the 150 free number and ask for them to send a reset signal to your modem. If that doesn't work try clicking start then run, type cmd and press enter. Then type " ping www.theanswerbank.co.uk ". Check the number of packets sent and received is the same (no losses). Mine was dropping 50%. Virgin sent a technician round with a new modem the next day.

You do need to do certain things yourself to keep it running smoothly,disc clean up,defragging etc.
