An ALDI shop is currently being built in my town. I have never been in an Aldi shop before. Are there any items available there that you buy regularly and wouldnt buy anywhere else ?

The value is great thought the checkouts are mannic. Cut the cost of my weekly bread bake by buying Allisons Strong Flour there and the braising steak is tastier than some other supermarkets and cheap.
They're expanding ours at the moment so the car park is manic. I have noticed a definite change in the people using it too, lots of posh, newer cars these days. Quite often go there, then Asda and then the chicken factory shop and see the same people in all three places. The staf work their butts off. They get paid more if they keep staffing levels down and they are v hot on making sure no one tries to 'hide' multiple purchases (I have seen the staff being tested on 'hidden goods').
Years back they had a very good and low priced chocolate under the Choceur brand but dropped it - it is still available in the Austrian Aldi franchise (called Hofer). More recently Aldi started selling an even better but higher priced Rich/Classic Dark chocolate, again under the Choceur brand. That too has very recently been discontinued - ostensibly because of "supply problems", staff say. That chocolate is still widely available in Aldi stores on the Continent, anywhere from Germany to the Iberian Peninsula. Other bars in the same family (milk, white, ones with nuts, etc., all 300g at £0.99) are still available in the UK. I really don't understand what is going on with the UK branches, but clearly what I like is ultimately destined to be discontinued. But we use the shops a lot, for things available there - they don't stock everything but what they do stock is usually good value for money.
Wish we had one nearer than 11 miles away, but we do go fairly often and worth the drive/petrol cost. fruit and veg excellent much cheaper than elsewhere, yoghurts exactly the same as Activa, cold meat good.
One thing to look out for - and they are always out of stock as it is so popular, is their copy of Molton Brown ginger lily shower gel, its about £2.99 compared to MB at £18, the bottle is a good replica, same colour gel and smells almost the same.
Also if you use shower spray to clean the glass e.g Astonish or Mr Muscle, then try Aldi's own, called "Power Force" daily shower cleaner - at .... wait for it ...... 69p !! AND it's much better than any of the leading brands!
