Holidays in August
I'm stuck taking my holidays in August, can't move them, and am at a loss where to go. We were considering Aruba, but it's the wrong weeks. Since, I've looked at all sorts of places, but keep being told it's the wet season, or tornado season. However, when I look at the BBC website for average temperatures and rainfall, they look ok.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I've spotted Mauritius and we are considering Kenya, but have no idea where else to look at or even whether to believe the person who tells me it's the rainy season in Venezuela.
Any ideas welcome. late 20s to early 30s for temperature, max 12 hour flight.
Thanks in advance.

But though individual hurricanes can cause a lot of damage, the Caribbean is a big place (and indeed the storms go much further north than just the Caribbean anyway), so actually your chances of encountering one are pretty slim.
Shame about Aruba, which is pretty much off the hurricane belt anyway. Curacao is nearby but beaches aren't so good. Kenya good for animals; it has long white beaches but you can get hassled by salesmen and many people prefer hotel pools. Mauritius is nice but can be expensive; ditto Seychelles and Maldives.
