I have a teenage son that spend as much time as he possibly can on his laptop, he takes longer and longer everytime I tell him to turn it off. so I was googling parental control software and i discovered that there are so many of them out there. Does anyone have any experience with software that shuts down computers after a certain amount of time so you can limit how much time children spend on them? I've seen so many different programs but don't know which to go for! Any ideas would be much appreciated
Just take the laptop off him as woofgang said. If he gets grumpy with you tell him he isn't allowed to have it for 24 hours, if he persists extend the time (add 24 hours each time) until he realises he needs to learn to do as he's told whilst living under your roof.
turn the electric off and he will run out of battery. hide his and every other charger. clip him round the ear. take all his other good stuff off him. throw his stuff out the window (upstairs, i mean - and yes, i have done that!)....the possibilities for punishment are endless! put yer foot down x
Nobody likes being told to do something NOW on the spot. If you say (or find some software which does it for you) that I'll give you 15 minutes you can finish off what you started. We all get hooked onto things so he needs an alternative interest.
My friend who has two teenagers shuts off her wi-fi at 11pm every night. They might still play games that they have downloaded but at least it keeps them off Facebook or other forums.
