Cat book of short stories

I'm trying to trace the title of a book I owned once of short stories about cats. The first tale was about a cat whose family were moving house. He didn't much like the family so he hid away so he could stay with a friendly neighbour. Any ideas please?

Was it T S Eliot's Old Possum's book of practical cats? Just a guess, i have never read it except we did analyse a short passage at Uni once.
