hi, at wok at the moment i am having to send off a few standard letters. Depending on who they are going to i either name the person, put dear sirs, or dea colleague. I often forget to check the end and change it according to the salutation. 1) is there a phrase to end that would be ok for all of the above salutations? 2) do you think people eally care anymore about faithfully/sincerely? it feels so bogus seeing as i am neither faithful to nor sincere about the people i'm writing to (and seeing as the modern way is either "lol smiley face" or "laters dude")

ps i couldn't care less if most of the people i'm writing to feel like i care enough about them.
How about "Bog Off," bednobs - or would that be a tad too far for your clientele base? Yours sincerely, dtc x
Question Author
bog off would be my favoured closing, however, i kind of want the people i'm writing to to do something that'll make my life a bit easier :)
Sorry both, tend to speed read. Yours in anticipation!

//Seb, we use Dear as a term of introduction; it reads better than 'Hey, ya' (+expletive - (Optional)).....//

Thats rather a patronising answer. I'm 60 not 6....
If you don't know the name of the person you are writing to and put Dear Sir, then the correct reply is Yours faithfully.
If you do know the name of the person, and you put Dear Mrs Jones, then it's Yours sincerely.
