I was told by a service engineer to leave the door slightly ajar to prolong the life of the door seal. Also I suspect that if the door is kept shut for a long period that an odour will build up inside the drum.
I always close the doors and lock them - especially at night
Leave the door ajar and also the powder dispenser slightly open this stops the mould in the dispenser draw
My cleaning lady always leaves it slightly ajar. i accuse her of being slovenly, maybe I should apologise to her, mind you, she is surreptitiously nickin me voddy, so i may just sack her.
I was also told to leave it open, to preserve the rubber door seal - but being a tidy minded person, I always keep mine closed!
I always leave mine open to preserve the seal, but with young children around it should be kept shut

Hi quiet man,

it looks like no one has picked up on your subtle joke or have only females been answering?

Leave it open, it allows air to dry the inside.
Quiet Man....Loved It
I found Quiet Man's post very witty too!
The instructions on my Miele washing machine say to shut the door when not in use, help don't know what to do now!!!!!!!
I find it develops a funny smell when shut so i always leave it slightly open
My AEG instruction book says to leave it open to maintain the seal and prevent odour, two things that went wrong in my last washer. This one's several years old and pong-free, and yess my fingers and legs are crossed as I type this!
