Tax Disc Position

Can anyone confirm if its an offence to have your disc displayed at the top of your windscreen?

Should be displayed on the nearside of the windscreen in such as manner as to be easily readable.

I think it is a legal requirement to have it positioned in the lower left (near side)

It has to be clearly displayed I was pulled over for this as the police thought I was not displaying a tax disc, the tax disc was positioned at the top of the windscreen, they could not do me for anything, but they asked If I could put it in the bottom corner.

I had mine in the centre of the windscreen in front of interior mirror for a number of years without any problems. When we had to start displaying MOT discs I then placed them both in the lower nearside position.

Matheous-2 - If a vehicle has a tinted strip along the top of the windscreen, then probbly displaying a disc in that area may render it 'not clearly visible' from the outside of the vehicle.

''Vehicle registration and licensing is governed by the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 (as amended) (VERA). Regulation 6 of the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2002, which are made under the auspices of the 1994 Act, states that the licence shall be exhibited on the vehicle, in the case of any vehicle fitted with a glass windscreen in front of the driver extending across the vehicle to its near side, on or adjacent to the near side of the windscreen.
