there is a gun shop nearby supplying firearms and supplies for licenced holders like farmers and people who feel it necessary to shoot rabbits and the like....also notice they have 'de comissioned' rifles for sale. Obvs I would need a licence to buy one of these....but lic are easily forged aren't they? This shpp advetrises these guns as 'FOR SHOW ONLY'..To show what exactly? And, in this day and age, why are these de coms still available for sale? yOUR COMMENTS PLEASE BEFORE I GO INTO SHOP/ CONTACT POLICE. ta!
Weaponary has long been collectors items, to be shown in glass cases or on the wall. I'm unsure why you have reacted so to this long established practice.
I can't believe a gun shop does not have very regular visits from the Police. I can't believe a gun merchant would risk his livelihood, bearing in mind the extremely low tolerance we have in the UK towards firearms.
No gun shop would be so stupid as to flout the law, they would lose their licence instantly. Read j-t-ps link '' decommissioned (deactivated) firearms ARE NO LONGER CONSIDERED AS FIREARMS''
In other words they are not firearms and no regulations apply to them, they are just like toy or imitation guns. Do not make a fool of yourself!
For Show Only means that they are only for display as collectors items.
The penalty for using a deactivated firearm in a crime is exactly the same as using a real working one.
I personally do not approve of their sale but it is legal and no licence is needed to buy one, you just have to be over 18.
I do own a shotgun certificate and looking at it forgery appears difficult, I do not feel the need to shoot furry bunnies, all clays are shot humanely. Shooting is one of my hobbies, may I suggest you get one or two so that it takes your mind off things that other people do.
