The New "on The Spot" Fines For Motoring "offences"

How will this work? Does "on the spot" basically mean "fixed penalty"? If not what if you have no means to pay with you? Shall we be giving cash to the police? I assume there is a way of pleading not guilty?? Can't seem to find any detail about the mechanism.

In Zimbabwe all traffic offenses are on the spot fines. Be it speeding, proceeding through orange, red lights, not carrying correct safety equipment eg triangles fire extinguishers. Being the law abiding country that we are if the fine is $20.00. You give 5 they pocket it and off you go.

Brinjal - that would be far too easy for the UK. Some national newspaper or TV company would do an undercover expose.

They will be fixed penalties as has been said. You can decline the offer of a fixed penalty if you wish. If you do you will be taken to court by way of a summons and there you can plead guilty or not guilty as you wish.

I like the sound of Zimbabwean corruption. It's cheaper for the motorist and the hardworking cop makes a bit too. Everyone's a winner.
