Cut a piece out from under the bed and use this to replace the shredded piece, double sided tape will hold it in position.
In addition to KJN's suggestion, make sure the carpet you use for repair (either from under the bed or a carpet tile, whatever) is bigger than the area torn.

Place the replacement carpet underneath the whole torn area, and with a new stanley blade cut through both layers of carpet to get a closely-fitiing patch. This can then be fixed down using strong double-sdied tape as KJN suggests.

One of my cats did this and the 'temporary repair' is now about five years old....

Thank for your help both. Im going shopping tomorrow so hopefully I can pick up an offcut or tile. Thanks again.
Depends what type of carpet it is, as the other answers have said find a piece of carpet from a place where it won't be missed, however if it is patterned make sure you get the right bit first, cut it slightly larger than the damaged bit. If it is a rubber backed carpet ( known as foam backed ) you can use double sided tape, if it is a kind of woven carpet use something like copydex spread around the underneath about half the width of the tape let it dry then again use double sided tape or single sided tape place the tape under the main carpet the feed the new piece in and press it down hard.
Good Luck.
Contents insurance?? If you have it use it and if you aint got it then get it!!You will not regret it. Chris
I have contents insurance but sometimes it is not worth claiming for something small...as the excess may be more than the repair or replacment or nearly,so it can be worth paying the difference yourself saving your premium rocketing the next year.
