Help tv has lost it's sound. It was fine this morning, it is a Finlux, put it on half an hour ago and no sound, we have been through every setting we can find but nothing, anyone any ideas please.

Do you have cable/sky tv? Have you muted sound using that remote rather than the tv remote?

No cable or sky, checked remotes for mute button, not muted.

Unplug it. (Don't just turn it off). Leave it for a while. Plug it in and turn it on again. If the sound hasn't returned, try retuning the channels.

If that doesn't work it's likely that there's a component failure, which only a qualified engineer can deal with. (Avoid any of the companies, in the Manchester area, featured on Watchdog, this week!).

Got the sound back. I think we were viewing it through the human box, I turned that off and thr sound came back on, but now I can't see what we have recorded on the human box, can't get the list up but at least we have sound in the sitting room now,, we had had the tv on in the dining room with the sound turned up.

Just a thought:

Has your TV got a headphone socket? If so, try plugging some headphones in, and then removing the plug from the socket, a few times. (There's a device within the socket which breaks the circuit to the speakers when headphones are plugged in. It can sometimes get stuck open).

I'm glad that you've fixed it but I'm curious as to what a 'human box' is; it sounds like something from a sci-fi novel!
('Humax', possibly?)

Yes it is a humax recorder box, have got the manuals out now to see if I can RE connect everything. First thing I see is connect the scart cable, I look down back of tv and scart is hanging down the back, I knocked it out when I was dusting!!!
Guess who is in the dog house?
