I can't understand a word of what happened but, S18 is GBH WITH Intent .
GBH WITHOUT intent is section 20.
Section 18 is always a prison sentence, section 20 gives you a chance of a non custodial sentence though prison is still possible.
Section 18 is a lot more serious, you really need to be sure which one you are charged with. S 18 or S 20.
If I understand correctly you left the pub after a fight, went home and got a hammer, while heading back to the pub with the hammer you were arrested.
Sorry, that looks to me like Section 18, you are looking at around 3 years in prison, your 'previous' will count against you even though it was not for violence.

If I get it right, you haven't been charged. No worry yet. The police are still trying to find witnesses and get witness statements. Until they do, nobody will know what you're facing. Then if they charge you, come back on here, but do split your post into blocks of a few lines. On your account you haven't committed any offence; you seem not to have started a fight and only fought back; apart from, apparently, having an offensive weapon, a hammer, in a public place

Fred, the 1st line of the question says he is on bail for section 18 GBH. I thought that he is saying he has been charged. I know it's almost impossible to understand with out a single instance of punctuation , but that's how I read it. I am still not certain this is not a 'wind up' the grammar is so bad I suspect it may be intentional.

You may have noticed that law books you were reading had punctuation, full stops and stuff. Your account is very difficult to understand when it is one long unpunctuated piece.
Your previous convictions will not go in evidence in a trial, as a rule. Exceptionally they may do, but basically only if they go to proving something important in the trial. They can't be put in evidence simply to show you have been violent before and so you must have been an attacker and guilty this time ! That wouldn't be fair or logical
