Your average real book is at least an inch thick, but those horrid e readers can barely manage a quarter of that. Stands to reason that something has to give !
Not unless they are stated to be 'abridged'. All of the ebooks I've read have been full versions.

I agree about "those horrible e-readers"..took me a long time to decide to buy one...it was cos of my hands holding a book when reading in bed that made me.However,I still buy my favourite authors in hardback form, like to have them on my bookselves...read ,of course.
No there is nothing like a "proper"book!!!

hc...I hate abridged versions...but so far have not seen this mentioned when buying an e-book...will have to look closer....
Give me an example of a book you believe to be abridged
Just checking in with mikey444 to be sure that he doesn't imagine the e-reader is stuffed with very thin sheets of paper. :oP

hc...been shopping...I am reading at the moment "Special Delivery" by Dannielle Steel and I can`t help feeling it has been abridged as I have nearly finished it too quickly....and I add...a very boring uninteresting story....not really my sort of thing but got it for light holiday reading.
I only read ebooks now and have not had or felt that I have had an abridged version.
Question Author
Maybe it is just that I don`t really like e-readers but it is much better for me to hold when lying down in bed...and I am imagining it.
Question Author
I am imagining: that the book is shorter....
It is shorter than her usual books, at 280 pages in paperback.

if you fall asleep in the bath and find your book floating on the water, you can dry it in the airing cupboard.

is an e-reader quite as forgiving?
I like the e reader because I'm very print impaired and being back lit and larger print I can actually see it.
They are fantastic for people like you, Brinjal, and for those with arthritis or suchlike in the hands.
As well as one handed people :)
