I got nothing too - but as I was swelling up with the gas - I said I can't go on - they said please another few seconds. Not pleasant at all.

When I had one, I was virtually comatose!!
I had no sedation and it was fine. Only lasts about 20 minutes anyway.

I was out like a light

Thankyou for answers , next time I am going to make sure im unconsious,
oh, those ones where they pump you full of air? I didn't enjoy that! The only good bit was deflating afterwards. It was uncomfortable, not agonising, but I imagine different people react in different ways. At least you know should there be a next time.
By Gawd and begorrah - I will insist on being knocked out on everything I get from now on - I will beg my doctor to insist on it.
Did they offer you gas and air?? It helped me a lot!!
It ain't half as bad as an endoscopy!! I found that terrible!!
Curious 81....... A Colonoscopy is an endoscopy.
I would refuse Colonoscopy without sedation.
Barbaric.

Don't know if its changed now but I found the preparation for it the worst. That awful medicine, the three day light diet and then the awful agonising cramps. Perhaps its changed now, hope so in case I ever need it again.
The prep is evil! Had it a few times with gastro tests (and the stuff they make you drink for other tests, disgusting stuff). I think I amused the nurses I had bloods booked with before my camera up and down as I'd underestimated the effects and had to cancel the bloods apt.

I asked for a sedative but could remember everything, was gutted they took my glasses off me as I wanted to see the screen. The Dr who did mine warned me it was going to uncomfortable as he had to turn a corner to get to see somewhere or something and he wasn't kidding!

They weren't too bad though, I felt a bit of a flake beforehand as a other people in the waiting ward were turning down sedatives but I'm glad I had one.

I think the camera down set my gag reflex off though as when I was back out on the ward I threw up numerous times.

I didn't know you could opt to be asleep.
