Watching Poirot last night I was amused to see that they had transplanted a house from Surrey to the coast.

Have you recognised a location on TV only to find with that some wizardry has been applied to change it about?

No, I haven't - but probably because I don't trust my own memory :)

I think it was probably cheaper to pretend it was on the coast than rent it and move it for the filming :)

What I haven't considered is if they manufactured a coastline in Surrey!
Yes!
Cold Feet once had an episode set along the north coast of N Ireland, but they'd "fiddled" (to put it mildly) with the locations, so that several characters in one scene set in a Belfast pub walked straight out to the Giants Causeway, which is about 50 miles away!
TBH I thought the coastline background was a bit false, super imposed. I wasnt over impressed with last nights new episode. A bit of a letdown for Poirot I though and I usually love it. I worked out long before the end what had happened !
I can't remember the name of it but years ago there was a made for tv film that featured shots of Aberdaron in N. Wales which I am very familiar with.
I remember the film was supposed to be set in Cornwall.

I did wonder if it should have been renamed Ariadne as she seemed to be the dominant character. I agree it was disappointing but I was distracted by the location.

Maybe because the book is rather poor also, like many of Agatha Christie's later ones. When I saw they were doing it the term "scraping the barrel" did spring to mind
There's also all of Mr. Kubrick's works... Ruined city of Hue in Vietnam = East End & Gasworks in London.

I think it was because he flew to England and in the process became so scared of flying that he never flew back to the US

There's an opening scene in a Bond movie that is supposed to be North Korea, it's actually near Aldershot. On reflection I can see the similarity!
Not TV but Brad Pitt's new movie was set in parts of GlasVegas and I think it's supposed to be set in New York.
