venus fly traps

where do i get a venus fly trap from and how can i prevent it dying like the last one did?

I saw them in Homebase today. I know one thing about them & that is that they will die if you or something in the environment keeps making them snap shut constantly when they haven't caught anything. Not sure why or how I know that...but If you talk to a reputable grower of exotic plants (try the Eden project) they will give you tips.

most garden centers,also open the windows more so it gets fresh supplys of flies?

Hi, They are fairly easy to keep, just stick to these rules. 1 (and most important) always water with rain water or distilled water, not tap or bottled. stand the plant in around 1/2 inch of waterthroughout the summer and it's growing period. 2 Dont close the traps unless you are using live insects to do it. 3 Mist the plant daily with rain or distilled water. 4 Never use any kind of fertiliser on it 5 move it into a cool room with no direct sun untill it begins to grow again in the spring, keep it just moist at this time. 6 in the growing period give it as much sun as you can, if it gets plenty the inside of the traps will go red and it looks prettier :-) If you follow these rules you will be fine.
