Gp Hasnt Turned Up For Appointment

Hi ALL, an eighty nine year old neighbour had an appt for a gp to visit at 4.30 this afternoon and at nearly 7pm no one has turned up nor has she been contacted by phone with an explaination....I feel incenced by this...what do you think ought to be done....if anything.....can i report this to a higher authority?
I am not on speaking terms with this neighbour, its my partner who knows her...and i just heard about it...I am not used to dealing with issues like this...what can i do?...its really shabby and nonone shld be treated like this...

Ringing the surgery and confirming that a visit was scheduled would be my first call.

Could contact out-of-hours doctor if urgent. Otherwise, ring the surgery tomorrow and see what's happened.

I agree , your priority is to make sure what the true tale is, so often things get lost in communication - only then will you know how to continue.

Is the surgery closed now? If not, I'd ring and ask - politely - why the doctor didn't come - otherwise I'd ring first thing in the morning. Is there any chance your neighbour didn't hear the doorbell? Don't get your knickers in a knot before you know the reason. Anger won't solve the problem and there may well be a simple explanation.

If it is a routine visit...then no big deal....GP may have more urgent considerations........phone the surgery in the morning.

If this was a new call and the patient is not too bad, then phone surgery in the morning.

If the patient is realyl ill.......unlikely.....phone the on call doctor.

It wouldn't be the first time an elderly person has got confused.

My Grandma (God bless her) was angry that the hairdressers was shut when she turned up for her 4 o'clock appointment.

She arrived at 4am!
