No Murray. I,'ve only just got betablockers today but had the others ages and didn't think to ask.

Do you mean at the same time ?.....even so your doc would surely let you know of any problems being in possession of your medical history and meds before prescribing ?

I haven't asked my doctor as I have just found them in a drawer as I,'ve had them ages for a shoulder pain I no longer have. They helped me to sleep then as I was in a lot of pain. I,'ve only just got my others today but my heart is racing and I know I won,t be able to sleep tonight.

PS if you still have the leaflet for either drug, doesn't it tell you whether you can take anything with the beta blocker? If I were you I'd go to the chemist tomorrow and ask the pharmacist, if sqad doesn't get back to you.

Abstract
Neither the kinetics of the hydrophilic beta-adrenoceptor blocker atenolol nor those of the lipophilic metoprolol were influenced by the concurrent administration of amitriptyline. Compared with placebo, chronic administration (14 days) of atenolol and metoprolol (each as monotherapy) did not significantly reduce oxidative liver metabolism as measured by antipyrine half-life and by 6-beta-hydroxycortisol excretion. Compared with atenolol and metoprolol monotherapy, chronic administration of amitriptyline concurrently with each of the beta-adrenoceptor blockers produced an insignificant decrease (circa 10-20%) in antipyrine half-life and 6-beta-hydroxycortisol excretion. Amitriptyline appears therefore to have little enzyme-inducing activity.

kat1.....not an easy answer to this.......amitryptyline and beta-blockers have both sedative effects..........BUT....try them.......you will soon find out.....
