hi, i know someone that is in court soon for arson with intent to endanger life. they r going to drop with intent so they been told he is tagged until court case ,what could be the sentance ? he is on camera with a lighter but not sure if fire was accident like he saying it is , thanks
Yes, OL, that's R v Hoof [criminal damage with intent/ reckless as to endangering. Would be nicer if Hoof had been kicking a door in :)]
It's serious Lizzy. And being affected by drink at the time does not help the defendant. It might be regarded as making it worse, given that drink may make for reckless behaviour
he had been drinking and taking drugs, dont know if the court know about that tho. he said he didnt remember then it was an accident so dont know the truth really, hes a compulsive liar
I'm sure it will all come out in the court case Lizzy, the method of questioning an accused in court is somewhat different to police investigative interviews, go watch the trial, should be interesting.
yes i should go to court case and hear , he been with my daughter a good few years and she got 3 kids with him he does nothing for them, just drinks, and drugs then sneaks out in night when she asleep, i hope he do go prison it sounds harsh i know but hes a waste of space
I have looked through the recent Arson / Reckless cases listed on the Lawpages website and most convictions resulted in custodial sentences starting at 4 years. (although in most the cases there were occupants on the premises at time of the fire).
