i have a female that is a cross between a poodle and a chahuahua. Is she just a mutt?

Yes, but she's probably a very cute one.

you could say that she is a crossbreed (you know who the parents are and rthey are purebred) rather than a mongrel (parentage and their breed unknown)

I have afriend who shows pedigree dogs. She loves all hers and never has ane time any more than she can keep happily she says that no matter what the judges say, the best dog is always the one you take home!!

I took the definition and surmised that they are a cross of 2 breeds, which is a mongrel or mutt (an individual resulting from the interbreeding of diverse breeds or strains;) Most of the time it describes unknown parentage, but since you can not register the offspring, even tho the parents are purebreds, then I call them mutts, or you can jump on the "designer" bandwagon and say, chi-oodle, or poohuahua, or choodle, or like woofgang says. So it's yours call it what you like and love them.
