hi, Could someone please help me out. I'm taking part in a musical and we have been asked to apply fake tan. I bought mine from asda. It is a cream one which you rub into your skin and it develops in hours. I have applied 2 layers within 2days and turned orange. I have left it for nearly 48hours and I am still orange. I have never used it before. Will it eventually turn into a brown, natural looking tan? How long will it take to wear off? If i was to buy a different brand and apply this would it help or make matters worse? And if i need to buy some more can anyone suggest a good one which gives you a naturl looking tan. Thanks

Hi! Im here to your rescue. I am the fake tan boffin! HAving the natural complexion of a flour bap\i have tried every fake tan/self tan on the market! Whatever you do, don't apply more tan on top. It simply acts as a paint and the more you add the more orange you will get. It will start to fade in 2-4days depending om how soft your skin is and how many times you bathe, sweat etc in between. Try exfoliating with a scrub and pumice until then. For any extra orange bits (skin creases, knees, elbows try toothpaste and a scrubbing brush to tone it down in between.

It may seem like a nightmare, but it will come off! The prob is it may not fade all over to the same degree and could become patchy. I would advise, sit tight let the whole lot go and start again. Exfoliate and apply a different kind. Personally, i like Sublime Bronze gel by garnier its about 8 but goes a long way and looks natural. If you really want to look special treat yourself to an airbrush tan at a salon, theyre the best!

Hope this helps!!

Hi eggcup5! I work in a beauty salon where the therapists use 'Fake Bake' spray tan. This gives a lovely brown sheen...not ridiculously brown but certainly not orange. It costs about 20.

The St Tropez one is very good, and also Johnsons Holiday Skin for a lighter tan if you want to apply it at home. As has already been said, exfoliating will help tone down your existing colour, followed up with plenty of moisturiser.

sorry eggcup, cant help, but laughed at Helsbels flour bap description!

thanks everyone
get a wash off fake tan - jessica nails do one called sex symbol tan in a can, but there is also sunshimmer by rimmel. you can plaster it on for the purpose of the show, then wash it off, no orange mistakes either. there are more out on the market but i would def try this

The spray tans are excellent. I tend to have mine done in the evening and when I wake in the morning I am a lovely natural brown colour. If I am doing it myself I use Piz Buin spray. It is so easy to apply and develops with your skin tone. Being allergic to the sun this is the only way for me to get any colour.
