Senior moments

I've just been out shopping and went into John Lewis to look for an item of cutlery. From the sign just inside the door the kitchenware was on the 1st floor so I thought I'd try there and took the stairs. Of course there was nothing in that section so I went to the cutlery area and on finding that it was far too expensive (as expected) I decided to leave.
I had a good look around and couldn't find the exit, so I got into the lift and pressed the ground floor button. After about 10s I looked at the display, which was now showing G, thought that it had been a smooth ride but why weren't the doors open? I pressed that button and got out to find that I was back on the same level. Another a search for exits proved fruitless and, thinking that I'd entered the Twilight Zone, I headed for the lift again.
That's when I suddenly realised that I had completely forgotten that just 5 minutes earlier I had left kitchenware, gone back downstairs and found the cutlery on the ground floor, even asking someone where it was, so that when I got into the lift I was already where I wanted to be. Once I realised that I was on the ground floor, not the 1st, I found the exit immediately and departed, hoping that no-one had seen my embarrassment.
And just to rub in that it was a senior moment morning, after going to another shop I went to Tescos, and it was about 2 minutes after leaving there that I remembered that I'd left a back of shopping next to the self-service checkout, and had to go back to collect it. At least I hadn't got all the way back home.
Time now for my afternoon nap...
