HD Media Player
9 Answers
The power on my 500GB Media Player has finally given up. I know the drive itself is ok as I have tested it on a PC.Ideally I would like to move onto a high def media player and was wondering if I purhased a HD Media Player Enclosure, would my existing drive be capable of HD quality if I had a HD movie on the drive. In other words, does the drive itself have to be a HD drive, or is it the Media Player that enables it to play HD quality.
I will buy a HD Media Player with the drive already installed if this is the only way, but I wa just trying to cut costs by using my existing drive.
Any advice would be most appreciated.

Hard drives used in a home environment typically can have two types of connector on them, either the new type which is SATA or the older type which is called IDE, PATA or ATA (all 3 are the same. just with different names)
You need to make sure the drive enclosure you get has the correct connector, pics below so you can identify the drive
SATA
