The lupins do not have lupin aphids, the roses do not have blackspot and I haven't seen any evidence of greenfly. However, my apple trees didn't blossom, my magnolia didn't blossom and my Lily of the Valley only produced one flower spike.
What is going on?
Weird and wonderful - my peonies are in bud but refusing to flower and no sign of my lavenders making a lavender-like appearance. And my David Austin's are late...
My magnolia was plastered in blossoms, ditto cherry trees. next door's apple trees bloomed, lily of the valley not bad. But hardly any roses are out yet at all. Usually by now all the rose bushes are weighed down with flowers, but only one out of eight has open flowers yet. And this is central England.
I have particularly noted that there is no sign of honeysuckle flowers in the hedgerows round me yet, usually well out by now. Hope it's just that everything's late this year.
Our clematis went mad this year, it's all over the hedge now as well as the shed - and two weeks late, our rambling Seagull rose is just bursting into flower. I'm waiting to count the bees this year, I hope some come....
Every thing seems to be coming along quiet nicely but a little late. The cherry and the nectarine where a mass of blossom when what happened? a long came the wind a and the bumper crop we were looking forward too disappeared into a cloud of petals.
