...or maybe my head's swollen. The brass fittings are also green with verdigris. It's size 7 and 1/8. Would a 7 and 1/4 be too big? I don't want it sitting on my ears.

Mamya posted a picture of a handsome chap wearing one. In my case you'd need to imagine Bart Simpson with one on his head.
Ah thank you!

OH has a similar (but not so branded) hat which shrank in the wash - could it be that?
Question Author
Yes, it's probably shrunk in the wash. Time for a new one.
I think your head must have grown sandy. I bought my Tilly when I learnt that one had been eaten by an elephant and following the usual digestive cycle had emerged undamaged at the other end of the animal. The owner claimed his Tilly was still giving first class service after many more years.

It would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it would be for me to find an obliging elephant in Belfast. I'll definitely buy a new one.
Trouble with new hats sandy is it takes ages to get them worn in and looking right when "some one" starts up with the old isn't it time you threw that tatty old thing away and bought a new one.

does tilly know that you have her hat?
Question Author
If she wants the one that has passed through the elephant back, she's welcome to it.
knowing the way the weather is it's more likely to have shrunk in the rain than the wash
