I would appreciate if anyone could help me with the problem of keeping washing props falling over and making washing dirty. I have 2 props one metal and one.wooden. I want to make them upright as possible. but when i put them upright they bend over too far and fall on the soil. i ve tried using bricks that doesn't help

is it possible to bury a length of pipe firmly in the soil and put the end of the prop in that?

We call them streechers in Scotland - just a little insignificant piece of info.

The secret is not to have them too upright - they are meant to be at an angle. How tight is your rope because you should still be able to peg your clothes on without them being ground level. The prop is only there to elevate the clothes a bit.

Am I on the same wavelength here.Maybe picked you up wrong but if not thats my advice.

I would go along with jno's idea.

It is possible to buy a type of extenderble metal cloths line which actually clips onto the line to stop it falling down, it also has a rubber bung on the end to minimise slipage (sory i dont know where they sell these, maybe someone else can help here)

It also helps if you lean your prop in the direction of which way the wind is blowing, but if you have big billowing sheets you have a fight on your hands, in this case its best kept tight rather than slack..

oops..I meant to say clothes prop on top line
