I have a sierra xr4x4i that has sat immobile for 18 months on my drive.
I would like any advice on do's and dont's before turning the engine.
The car had a full service 2 months prior to standing and was an excellent runner.
many thanks in advance.

you should be ok,but just check the oil and water levels are ok,the brakes will be a bit rusty and might be stuck,so just be carefull,
Remove the plugs and squirt a bit of WD40 into each cylinder. All lubrication will have gone from the cylinder walls in that time.

With the plugs still out turn the engine over a couple of times to get the oil moving before replacing the plugs and starting.

Battery may need a bit of charge before you start.
All good advice.
Look out for possible problems with clutch and brakes.
Why not get a local garage to pick it up for a check-over and MoT?
