Now to answer your question CS was Portuguese [ turned into a right Essex boy by moi] but he was born in Goa where his family have a very big spread and a lovely huge 40s bungalow, he wants his ashes scattered and some buried under his favourite tree in the front garden, he has also always supported a Panjim R/C orphanage and the priest in charge has promised to come and do the service/ceremony.. To take the ashes out of one country into another you need :-
1.Letter from the crem to say they sealed the ashes into the box
2.Letter from the funeral parlour to say they handed them intact to the widow
3.permission from the airline to carry the ashes
4Notify Gatwick you will be taking ashes thru the airport
5.Letter from the Indian High Commissioner giving permission for the ashes to enter their country .
Without the passport I would be unable to prove to the IHC who he was and of course they cannot issue another passport to a deceased person.
Believe you me I have had nightmares about this where I dreampt I cut the passport up and I was beginning to believe it myself, there isn't one inch of CHez Sa that has not been turned over. I found it in an old wallet which I had supposedly searched before, found his Rolex about a month ago.
The relief is unbelievable.
