Alternatively, if you know someone who's got Photoshop (or a similar program) then you might be able to get the job done for far less. (Photo restoration is quite skilled work. I've restored several photographs for friends, with quite good results, but it can be very fiddly, time-consuming work).

Another option for you is if you have a local printer or repro house (Printers' services in the yellow pages, they have very high end scanners and proofing machines of photo quality.
If at work you have a print buyer, ask them for the details of the printer who gets most of the company work, they may scan it, manipulate it and proof it for you for next to nothing, �5 or �10. Perhaps worth a go. Good luck. X
