I've just done a check to see if anything exciting happened on the day I was born (other than me entering the world of course!) All I found was Joe Frazier TKOs Jimmy Ellis in 5 for heavyweight boxing title.

Surely someone has had something more exciting happen!

The day I was born, 8th February 1962, there were rots in France, led by the communist party and 8 people died, crushed in the crowds.

BUT more interesting, and I'm sure Dottie will both agree and verify this........the day before I was born, 7th Feb 1962 was the birthday of Garth Brookes.

January 1947, Daisy. And yes, my mother probably didn't want to go home with me. She often said, when I was fractious, that she thought she'd been given the wrong baby! And my father, on being told of the delivery, said to his friend "If he's been born with brown boots on, I'm sacking that milkman". What a start in life, doubts all around!

Appreciated though, craft :). The stupidest thing was that my father promised that I'd be born "at home". What my mother hadn't appreciated was that, sensing that a baby boom was coming, he'd gone out a bought a small hospital or nursing home, which he converted into a maternity hospital. That was his idea of "at home" :)
