I am looking to buy a 32" Plasma or LCD TV. Budget around 1000. Can anybody advise me if plasma is better than LCD, what the difference is etc.
Also, are there any particular models that anybody can recommend at all? I am especially keen on watching sports (football) and am keen to avoid 'drag' and 'shadowing'. Thanks in advance.

I think it's best you do your own research on sites that are dedicated to home cinema, they have a lot of Q & A on there. Lcd at the moment seems to be popular, the colours are very vibrant and prices are generally cheaper. Plasma on the other hand has the size and a more natural colour, but they are a bit more pricey.
My brother in-law bought a Sony Bravia at Xmas for 1300, he is not happy with it and neither would I be, watching a normal TV broadcast you see lots of digital blocking and the TV has real problems coping with black blacks (lots of grey blocks in it). I saw a 60" plasma yesterday and a normal TV broadcast was VERY good on it.
I also think that delivery is sometimes more costly on a plasma as well though as it's a more delicate set.

Me, personally, I would like a plasma. Most popular though is LCD because of the cost.

Hope some of this babbling of mine helps.

I think LCD is better as plasmas run on gas that can go at anytime. I also think LCD's have much better pictures too (hence the name Liquid Crystal Display).

If you are looking to buy a 32" I would recommend the LG 32LX2R which you can get for under 900. Look up reviews on the net and you'll see this is an exceptional product.

Hope this helps.

Plasma, by its nature, is a far superior picture. Unfortunately the price reflects this. My advice is to sit in the showroom in front of the various different types you're considering until you find one you're happy with

Plasma TV's may have a better picture, but don't last as long.

Also, they are expensive to repair, I have this on good authority, from the TV repairman who fixed our telly.

Visit www.pixmania.com, as they have some good offers.

I have just bought a 37"plasma although my intention originally was to buy an LCD. It would be rarish to find a 32" plasma so my advice is to look at LCD only. I only bought the plasma because it came with a 5 year all singing/all dancing guarantee

As a generalisation LCDs are lighter in weight than plasmas and last longer but there can be viewing difficulties when sitting to one side(say between the 150 and 180 arc).

Use www.pricerunner.co.uk site(as a start) to give you a good general idea of price and what each model offers. www.totaldigital.org (a birmingham based company) do very competitive prices.

I recommend you use 'ask jeeves' to ask"where can i buy an LCD television". That should give you a good start.
