Can anyone recommend a good toaster?

I've had a succession of cheap, supermarket own brand toasters which cremate bread with alarming ease.

I'd be willing to pay a decent amount of money if I could find one that just toasts my bread evenly and consistantly!

Any suggestions?

I'm rebelling against my Scots blood and willing to spend decent money on a good toaster.

Some friends of mine paid over £70 for their toaster in a very smart department store wot shall remain nameless. I paid £5 in tesco's and mine makes far better toast. And it has lasted ages
