Switzerland in WWII

Why was switzerland not invaded by Germany or Italy in WWII? Did they sign a treaty or something? Or was the swiss valued for its clocks and cheese?

As Eddie has said it was 'mutually beneficial' for Switzerland to stay neutral. It didnt make any sense for Germany to invade - there was no ideological reason or a strategic imperitive. i'm sure there was an unholy alliance where in the Swiss overlooked certain indiscretions on the part of their banks biggest customers (ie German industry) and Germany left the Swiss borders well alone.
For all their white teeth and friendly neutrality the Swiss have a very right wing history. They still have the highest gun ownership per capita than anywhere else in the world.

yeah true, but the good ol americans almost brought switzerland to war! during the second world war several swiss towns were bombed by american bombers when they got 'lost'. this got the swiss understandibly peed off! the americans were sternly told off by the swiss and if they bombed switzerland again then they claimed that they would invoke some banking thingy to be detrimental to the US and to help the axis powers out financially!!!! (my grandad always had a saying... when the Germans bomb, the Britsh duck; when the the British bomb, the Germans duck; and when the Americans bomb, everybody ducks!!!)
