Downloading Ebooks To Kindle / Kobo
4 Answers
I have loads of ebooks (no DRM!) on my laptop. Most are ePub format but I also have a load in mobi format. I also have an app called calibre to convert to many other formats. What format do Kindles / Kobos use. If I buy a Kindle / Kobo will I be able to download the eBooks to the new device? I have the Kindle app on my iPad but don't know how to get eBooks from my laptop to the Kindle - does it take USB?
Thanks for any help and advice.

Kindle uses mobi file extension. If you connect your kindle via USB to you computer, you can just drag the files on as if the kindle was an external hard drive. When you turn on your kindle next, the books should be on.
