Thanks Daniel. Something to be working pro tem. I hope the usual version turns up as this one is clearly not easy to submit! As usual your efforts are above and beyond the call of duty.
I've just heard from The Spectator that they no longer use Exact Editions which was an online replica of the magazine. They have swapped to an IPad App which I will download tonight and look at. I downloaded it on my phone a moment ago and unfortunately the crossword looks just like the one that is posted online.
I will check the IPad app when I get back to see if it is the same as the magazine version (fingers crossed) and will revert back this evening.
No I didn't find it that easy - had to resort to Wiki. I don't see the wordplay for 22a - first 5 letters are OK but the last 3 ? - and isn't there a letter missing (the entries last one) from the wordplay for 15d?
...........and the joke in the other one has just occurred to me as I was dropping off for a nap: "art instructor" in biblical/Shakespearean English, of course, is (thou) teach-est !!! Now back to sleep........................
I fear this is a sign of the times. The days of free access to crosswords
without purchasing the paper or subscribing are coming to an end.
I am a subscriber to the Times Crossword Club which allows me to
download the weekly Listener & Mephisto crosswords. I have now been
told that I need to takeout a subscription to the Times On-line if I want
to print off the crosswords. They went on to warn me that
photocopying or sharing their crosswords is a breach of copyright.
Thanks for your Thursday e-mail & post and I don't think things will
be quite the same again.
Hi DJA

I echo K's sentiments ."Fings ain't what they used to be "
All the best to you and your family .
