Keep it damp at all times and never let it dry out. If it's an indoor tree, keep on a bright, preferably north facing window sill where it will get maximum light but no direct sun.
Feed it weekly with liquid food (eg miracle grow) once a week from April to Sept.
If the tree starts growing, cut back any long growth to keep it in shape.
Every two years, take the tree out of the pot, cut away 1/3 of the roots and soil, put back in the pot with new compost.
Indoor trees are a lot more difficult to grow than outdoor ones. I've been growing bonsai for 25 years and i have some lovely outdoor trees but i can't keep indoor trees for more than a few weeks despite them being in a conservatory
Enjoy

now you see, I almost never root prune my trees. The only time that I do it is if I re pot or if I feel that the soil needs changing. I have a drip watering system set up on mine whiich has made them much healthier and easier to care for.
My current batch are all about 14 years old as I gave my last lot away when I temporarily moved out of the uk.
In the winter I keep a close eye on the weather and put my trees undercover or cover them with fleece if it looks like freezing as a frozen root ball will kill most trees
I can't keep indoor ones either so don't try any more!
Woofgang....i only root prune my trees at potting time which can be anywhere from annually for my mame bonsai to every 3 years for the taller ones.
I just tend to tease out some soil....approx 1/3 and selectively prune out some of the thicker tap roots to encourage a more fiberous system...then replace with proper bonsai soil.
