I have heard of the gold coast which is freetown, sierra leone west africa. havent heard of one in australia though.

Just googled, there is a gold coast in queensland east australia.

It's in Queensland, near Brisbane on the East coast.

The Gold Coast is north of Brisbane, around Surfers Paradise.

sorry to be pedantic, but it's south of brisbane.

as far as i'm aware, the city of gold coast is made up of several small towns, which are collectively known as gold coast - i think surfer's paradise is one of those towns.

It's south of Brisbane, a bit north of the NSW border. Not far south of that is Tweed Heads, which was Porpoise Spit in Muriel's Wedding.

Gold is Queensland south of Brisbane. The main place to be is Surfers Paradise which is very much like Miami. Not far from there ( in Australian Terms ) is where they film Im a Celeb, get me out of here.

My son lives about 20 miles from Surfers and is buying a 4 bedroom bungalow with swimming pool for �120,000. Make you sick! I hired a Ford Escort for 10 days, cost �12 per day.

Incidentally the temperature at his place on Xmas day was a cool 38.
