Is there any current scientific understanding as to why when a thin object such as a finger, pencil, etc, is pointed at the area between the eyebrows, a feeling of great pressure is experienced in the surrounding area?

I have been told that it may be something to do with the third eye or pineal gland in the brain, but if this is so, how does this effect occur?

I appreciate that this does not occur with everyone, so if you do not experience it, ask around your friends to see how common it is.

Cheers guys,

Eifion

oh i know exactly what you are talking about you also get it if you cross your eyes to look at your nose.i dont know what causes it either but its kind of weird huh??

I have this book on anatomy and I saw that we have an "angular vein" which starts from this point and is attached directly to the frontal lobe! of course, I have no idea what this means.  I would think that the sensation is probably associated with the sinuses

Its just crazy, i have had it as long as i remember, maybe it's something to do with your eyes trying to focus, but i also get it if someone points at the back of my head inline with the bridge of my nose!
Im not exactly sure about your question, however my experience of this gland is that it is actually The thrid eye. Ive read loads on it recently. theres plenty of reading about just google it " third eye". My feeling is , the pineal glad is of more use than we currently know. It really makes me wonder! Im currently reading more on net.
hope someone can come up with a scientific answer.
