Minibus Regulations
I've ploughed through loads of DVLA sites for the answer to regulations regarding driving minibuses. I've tried ringing them, but the lines are so busy they're not accepting any more calls at the moment.
I've recently taken over as an Age Concern minibus coordinator, and some of our drivers are over 70 years old. I know that if they take a medical and pass it as required by the DVLA they can continue to drive minibuses with over 9 seats, and up to 16 seats, including the driver.
What is the number of seats in a minibus that can be driven by over 70s who decline to take a medical?
Can anyone provide a link that I could refer to? Many thanks.

At least, that's how I read this:

A car licence (group B) allows you to drive a vehicle up to 8 seats.
For a 9 - 16 seater minibus you need a D1 licence

At age 70 you can renew your car licence (including minibuses up to 8 seats), but to renew the D1 category on your licence you have to take a medical.
