My mum and dad never really went out much together (no money) - I only have one photograph of them together where they were not dressed up.
Was wondering would it be possible to have their heads transposed on nice clothes by a photographer etc. tia

My dad actually died a few months later. My mother hated her photo being taken with the result if I come across a few old photos of my mother she cut her head out of the photo resulting in holes. She was a lovely looking woman but never thought so.

If you google phototograph restoration you'll find others.
If you want it done online you'll need to scan in your photos and put them onto your computer so you can email them. But there may be people in real photography shops who can do it for you from prints.

waiting for a reply like yours Daffy - and I totally agree with you in a fashion. but it wouldn't be a fake - just like to see them dressed up for a change - I just wish they lived long enough for me to treat them like a king and queen that they were and wish they were dressed like king and queen - that's all daffy.
ain't it the truth, Ratter, compare these two!

I am thinking of a guy who worked in the shop at the bottom of the street. He had a row with his colleagues and moved alone into town - I had a bit of a rapport with him and I think he would be sympathetic to what I want done. The others I am referring to seem to thin they are bigwigs and I would be a little embarrassed to explain to them what I wanted done.
Connemmara, it's just a pity you couldn't scan the photo in question (or have a friend do it for you) and then upload it to something like Photobucket (don't worry, it's free) and post the link here on AB so we could access/download the photo. Many of us here (myself included) enjoy messing around with old photos and not wishing to toot my own horn but I once restored a photo of a friend's great grandmother (the photo was over 100 years old) and he was over the moon with the results. I don't make any claims to being any kind of professional but it's amazing what you can do with a little time and a lot of patience (and a bit of trial and error).
If you could upload your photo to a free photo hosting website (such as the one mentioned above), I can't make any promises but I'd be more than happy to see what I can do, as I'm sure a few others on here would. We love a challenge!

sorry bravejordy for not answering sooner - thanks for your offer but I could not even do what you are asking - you are asking the wrong un but will let you know what happens. I did get a photo of my mother when she was about 3 and her mother whom I never knew - enhanced - a lot of years ago - it was about ok.
it can be done, but its a time consuming and professional process - and it wont be cheap - you would need to pay for a photographer, the models and the clothes etc
i think you will struggle to create a photoshoot with 2 other people that will exactly match their heads - light source, grain, angle etc, that can be just put together with the old pics
its not just a case of cutting out a head and sticking it on a body
you would be better off taking individual pictures of them and putting them together in a shot than trying to swap heads.
i often have to do photoshopping for film etc, and if the 2 images are not very similar it is not easy.

It can be done, though not by a photographer, but by a digital artist using Photoshop. If your photo is a hard copy, then you first need to scan it and then send the artist the file for editing. They will do the needful as per your guidelines and return the edited image to you. Scanning the photo first is worth the effort as it converts the picture to a digital format, making your photo immune to wear and tear.
