Surely it's not a one-way ticket is it Ed? The answer or question just gets pulled without the originator knowing why. Hi potterfan3
People are rarely "banned" - meaning their accounts terminated - and when they are the users will know why!
Here are the most popular reasons why users are removed from the ole AB: excessive profanity, constant abuse, pretending to be a 10 year old girl, spamming the site, trolling the site, advertising something, cyber stalking, exploiting our reporting function, "impostering", posting sexually explicit nastiness and of course cussing the Editor.
In regards to threads - this site is fundamentally moderated by peers and after a certain number of reports have been registered and the content is obviously not in keeping with the "AB way" it is removed.
In actual fact, most users of the AB do not have any or have very few removed posts and those are usually duplicates.
We are not planning on sending an explanation every time a post is removed, we simply do not have the technical resources to implement and manage it.
Hope this answers your Q!
