i had my daughters name changed (legally) 10 years ago i was wondering if i can get a copy of her birth certificate in new name or will she have to show old certificate and the papers from solicitors with name change details on thank u x

I think I'm right in saying that your daughter will have to show here original birth certificate and the document showing the legal change. Unfortunately there is not anyway of issuing a new birth certificate in her new name.

Under the law for England and Wales, at least, you cannot officially change your original birth certificate. Neither can you repeat registration of a birth in order to legitimise a second identity or indeed subsequent multiple identities.  However, it is perfectly legal to call yourself anything of your choosing provided that it is not in the interests of fraudulent or criminal purposes in general. Finally, you can officially change your surname by deed poll but not your forename(s) since under English law at least they are considered to be the names given to you by God!

To make things easier you can get certified copies of the deed poll, which can be used (together with the old birth cert) whenever proof of ID is required.
