I am trying to find the registration details for a birth in Scotland.......actual certificate details and where to apply to would be appreciated. It is for a Thomas Vint born in Motherwell on 24/1/1886.
Scottish birth certificates give so much more information than english ones, for one thing they tend to give time of birth as the norm, whereas in england that would denote multiple births, you also get the full details of parents as well as their date and place of marriage,
scottish registers can also be searched, unlike english ines, where we rely on ordering accurate certificates. however, marriages could take place anywhere, even in houses, and the system started later than ours 1864 for marriages and i think 1855 for births if my memory serves me right.
I have found(on Scotlands People, the official website for births deaths and marriages)
The actual birth certificate forThomas Vint born on the date you state.
Unfortunately (as you can see from my previous answer) SP will not let me link directly to the certificate.
I can send it to you,if you email me your adress to
[email protected]
\however,I am trying another type of link below.
I had a quick shufty because I have a subscription with Scotland's People. Thomas Vint was born in Bothwell in Lanark on 24 Jan 1886 at 11 am (I think) at 4 Back Row (can't read the rest). His father was William Vint and his mother Ann (ms McMillan - I think). They were married on 22 December 1877.
Unfortunately, I am almost out of credits, so it might be worth you buying a few credits with Scotlands People.
Not at Barmaid, every little (or lot) helps!
Your eyesight is certainly better than mine, but the certs handwriting isn't very clear.
Now,I am trying something I haven't tried before.
Hopefully, this link (via ImageShack) should show you the certificate.

If it's still not readable, then we will have to resort to emails.
I must say if you just want the bare bones then Barmaids details are correct.
