The engine light's come on again on my Daihatsu Sirion. It came on before its service a few weeks ago, just before service - the garage did the emissions test and it needed work on the catalytic converter otherwise it would have failed MOT.
Last time I asked, people told me not to worry if the light was on constantly, not flashing, but I don't like it - what could it be, do I need to go back to the garage?
Tony, are they only used when the engine light comes on or can they be used if the motor is running rough?... sorry but I'm crap when it comes to anything mechanical
Reason I ask Tony, I've got a 54 plate Nissan Navara pick up and it was running like a pig, pulling back and sending out white smoke from the exhaust.
Got the RAC to take a look and nothing showed up on his laptop, luckily he said he prefers to find the faults himself and he said it was a fuel blockage, towed it to my mechanic and he was right, there was lots of crap in the fuel tank and filters
No it probably wouldn't show up on the RAC guys computer because the engine management light wasn't on, so no fault registered on the ECU.
Don't think that the tool that I have bought would show that either, Elvis.
