OK I'm confused. Who is Tom Riddle? I thought he was Voldermort but in the recent Harry Potter film Voldermort's father is Tom Riddle. And even if he is Voldermort, how did he become this great evil power?

Ok, Tom Riddle is Voldemort but he used to be a regular guy and was named after his muggle dad Tom Riddle so they both have the same name. He was really into the dark arts and was so hungry for power and evil that he changed his name and became voldemort......read book 6 (half blood prince) as it explains what happens to Riddle Jr right from being a child to his current state and will make u less confused. yes voldemort was named tom after his muggle father and marvolo after his wizard grandfather marvolo gaunt,

thus he became tom marvolo riddle which we know know is an anagram of i am lord voldemort, the books are so much better than the movies.
