Displaying Ot Of Date Car Tax
Just bought a car on sunday, It is out of tax since last july but I am ordering one offline as I can't get to the post office. Is it still ok to drive since I will have ordered tax online but the disc wont come till end of week?

So if I get pulled over I will just have to be polite and explain my situation. After all (other than not displaying a disc) I will be above board on everything!
The Finance Act 2013 was enacted 6 days ago and has amended S.33 of The Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 by increasing the grace period for non-display of a purchased tax disc (such as for change of keeper) from 5 to 14 days.

If the tax disc is ordered then go for it. It will show on the police database that you have applied for it.
The police are not too bothered about tax disc offences. Last year the chav next door was driving a car with a tax disc 3 months out of date. When the police were notified they said it was nothing to do with them and it had to be reported to DVLA. It was duly reported to the DVLA and it was a further 2 weeks before they came out and clamped the car
