Because instability in the Middle East can produce political, economic and even aggressive military action that spills out into the rest of the world... Because nobody likes seeing children being killed and people on any side living in fear... Because beautiful, fascinating, historic and religious centres are turned into no-go areas ... Because the constant fighting is a matter of despair for onlookers and peace seems a distant dream so we should be interested, shouldn't we?
The Middle East attracts a lot of attention because it is origin of the 3 biggest world religions: Islam, Judaism and Christianity (although I dislike calling genuine Christianity a religion). As a Christian myself, the things that are happenning in the Middle East are a great concern, partly on the pure suffering that is being endured and partly because of the meaning of the events taking place. It is written in the Bible that one day all Israel will be saved (read Paul's letter to the Romans), i.e. they will accept the Lord Jesus as their Messiah. Israel was (and still is) God's chosen nation and he will stand by it.
Just another of the Bibles hundreds of Prophecies being fulfilled acuratley, as they always are: Zec 12:3 And it shall come to pass in that day that I will make Jerusalem a trodden stone to all the nations: every one that tramples on it shall utterly mock at it, and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered together against it.
