Who chose your name for you. Your parents or were they influenced by family and are you hapy with it ?
Apparently my uncle chose mine as mum and dad had run out of ideas as I was 7th child born (lucky) and all have 2 names each. Im happy with both my names

No interesting story behind my name as far as I'm aware and it's a very common name. I spent years trying to get people to call me by my middle name Emma but I quite like my normal name these days.
Was named for my mother's sister who died of diphtheria when she was 14. My middle names are my mother's maiden surname and my gran's maiden surname. Bit of a mouthful!
The name I am known by was chosen for me by my army compatriots and has stuck since then and is used by my family and friends.
My sister( no 1) was named after our mother.
My brother( no 2) was named after our father.
Me...10 years later...was named after....a state. Guess they ran out of ideas. I've never particularly liked it-but its preferable to their other choices....Maureen( not too bad) or Priscilla.....
Pennsylvania is a bugger to spell though :)

Lol.....but my parents inspiration is a bit further south, and a bit of a pain in the spelling dept.
I was given the name my grandma was called by, which was slightly different to her given name................
Urgh, I hate my name and think my mum chose it, should be grateful I suppose though as my dad wanted Cerise or Lucretia, For Funks Sake!
Mum wanted to calll me Matthew (I hated the thought of being called that when I was younger) and Dad wanted me christened Stephen - Dad won.
My Grandma (who ruled the world we lived in) chose the names for my 2 older sisters but Mum rebelled when I was due and said that whatever the sex, it would be named after her grandfather who, luckily, had a very nice feminine version of his name.
I'm very happy with it.
I was named by the Irish nurse that was in maternity when I was born. Dad went to see me.........nurse said to him Brenda is a lovely name.! So dad goes and registers my name and THEN told my mum.! oops. Second name my mothers! I hate both of my names.!!

Brenda xx
I was christened Justin Judas, my mum said they're both saints names.

I prefer to be called Jude.
Interesting, lilacben, you say the midwife named you. When i had my daughter i told the midwife the two girls' names i had in mind. She used one of them speaking to the baby just after i had her, so that's the one i went with.
my mother was intending to name me Andrew but the midwife said you can't do that because you're not Scottish, so I became Richard.
My Father chose both my names and I dislike them both.

Having said that my Mothers preference was even worse.......
Named after both my grans, who shared the same name. Don't like it, so have shortened it.
